The foods high in sodium are meat, fish and shellfish. On the side of the plant chard, spinach and celery contain a significant dose of sodium. Other fruits and vegetables contain only very little sodium.
Sodium, better known as the "salt" is used by the body to regulate the acidity and to transport the water in the body. It is also a mineral that plays an essential role in the transmission of nerve impulses in the body, especially at the muscles level.
The recommended dose for sodium is 5g per day, this dose is often largely achieved mainly because of the overdose of salt in the diet in general.
